Pedal cycles are prime targets for thieves, so if you own one it is vital that you get it insured.
Pedal cycles are covered under our standard Home Contents Insurance. However, if you want your cycle to be covered when you ride it somewhere outside your house, you will need to extend the cover of your policy.
Remember, if you do need to leave your bike unattended outside somewhere, use a lock and chain it to something that can’t be moved, such as a bike rail or a lamppost. Making sure you do this is a requirement of our insurance policy.
It is also a good idea to lock your bike up in a highly visible place, so any potential thief will have to attempt to steal it in full public view.
You can increase the chances of getting your stolen bike back by making a note of its unique frame number and registering it on the website immobilise.com. Police regularly check this online database to trace the owners of any stolen bikes they recover.
If you extend your Home Contents policy to include cover for your bike whilst away from home, as well as theft, our insurance policy will also cover you against accidental loss or damage anywhere in the UK. We will even cover your bicycle if you take it outside the British Isles for up to 60 days.
Switching to Churchill Home Insurance is easier than you'd think. We will even give you up to £25 if your current insurer charges you to switch. Apply for a quote online now.
