Churchill GiveBack

Many of our car insurance customers have driven less in recent times, so we think it’s only right to offer those customers some money back. That’s why we’ve launched Churchill Giveback.

Who’s eligible for Churchill Giveback?

You need an active Churchill Car Insurance policy (a renewal or a new policy bought before July 2020) and to have driven less between 1 October 2020 and 31 March 2021.

How do you get the money?

We’ll be emailing eligible customers with more information and a special link. All you’ll need to do is click the link and follow the instructions.

If you don’t have an email address, look out for a letter containing all the same information.

Contacting all our motor customers is going to take a while, so please hold off getting in touch if you’re yet to hear from us. We aim to have contacted everyone by 30 April 2021.

What can you do with the money?

You can do whatever you like with the money, but we’re offering some options to choose from:

  • Pocket the money for yourself, either as a cash payment or Amazon gift card.
  • Donate the money to one of our chosen charities: Mind, Sepsis Trust or NSPCC.
  • Split the money between yourself and one of the charities.

Can I claim a refund for the first lockdown in 2020?

Yes, if you haven’t already done so. If you think your annual mileage decreased by at least 1,000 miles because you drove less between 23 March 2020 and 31 July 2020, and your policy began before August 2020, you can request a refund related to your lower mileage.

Important information

Remember, even if you're not driving your car, it's a legal requirement for your vehicle to be insured, unless it has been registered with a SORN and is declared 'off the road' with the DVLA. You can find more information here: https://www.gov.uk/sorn-statutory-off-road-notification

If you do declare your car off the road and temporarily no longer require cover, we can suspend your policy. Please get in touch if you'd like to do this.

Frequently asked questions

Churchill Giveback is for customers with a car insurance policy regardless of the vehicle on cover. This isn’t available for business van customers.

If you drove less than usual between 1 October 2020 and 31 March 2021, then you can apply for Churchill Giveback.

Please contact us if you want to permanently reduce your mileage. Any changes to mileage as a result of lockdown are temporary.

We’ll send you an email (or letter if we don't have an email address for you) which includes information on what to do next.

Many customers drove less last year due to the various lockdowns and restrictions that were in place. We made a commitment to our customers that we wouldn’t benefit financially from the impact of COVID-19, so it’s only right and fair that some money goes back into customers’ pockets. If customers would rather donate the money, that's an option too.

You just need to have driven less than normal between 1 October 2020 and 31 March 2021

During this time parts of the country started entering into tiers, followed by local and national lockdowns. We know that not everyone will be back to normal after 31 March, so will review again later this year.

There are two fixed amounts. If you’re eligible, which of the two amounts you receive is decided based on your annual premium.

Yes. If this applies to you, you’ll be contacted for each separate policy.

It depends on how you want to receive the money. Paying the money to your bank account will take a few days, whereas a cheque can take up to 30 days from the date you make the claim.

Yes, as long as you have a valid Churchill car insurance policy still in place and bought the policy before July 2020.

Yes, if you haven’t already done so. If you think your annual mileage decreased by at least 1,000 miles because you drove less between 23 March 2020 and 31 July 2020, and your policy began before August 2020, you can request a refund related to your lower mileage.

The refund is calculated based on the difference between the mileage you gave us when you took out the policy and the mileage you told us you were doing during lockdown from 23 March 2020 until 31 July 2020.

We’ll get the money to you within 30 days, but we’ll aim to process refunds as quickly as we can. There may be delays due to card processing times, so in some instances it may happen after we’ve sent you confirmation.

You’ll receive a letter confirming your refund amount once it’s been processed by us. You may receive a letter before you receive the money as this depends on card processing times.

Emails and letters are being sent out over a period of time. We expect them all to be with customers by 30 April 2021. If you haven’t had any contact by this date, and you’re an eligible customer, please click here: https://giveback.churchill.com/contact-us
