It’s only natural that making a claim for you and your family during such a difficult time can be extremely stressful. That’s why we have made the entire process as easy as possible, and the claims team at Legal & General will treat each claim individually and personally. They will take you through the process and explain everything to you in detail. Rest assured - the Samaritans train our people so that they’re always ready to provide you with quality service. As an added benefit, whilst the claim is assessed, we’ll pay up to £5,000 as an advance payment. Find out more

Who receives the claim payment?

Consider carefully who will receive the benefit amount if a claim is made on your policy. Please bear in mind that in the event of a terminal illness or critical illness claim we’ll pay the money directly to you.

In the event of your death, the payment will go to:

  • Your spouse/partner if you have a joint policy with them.
  • Your estate, unless you have let us know that you want the payment to go to a trust.
  • A trust, which is a legal arrangement that allows you to give away your assets immediately, without losing your control. You must make sure the trust you choose meets your needs. We’re not qualified to give advice, so if you need more help about a trust meeting your needs, you’ll need to take professional advice. Keep in mind that you may be charged a fee. You may wish to make your own arrangements or alternatively our life insurance provider Legal & General provides further information (you will be directed to Legal & General’s website).
  • Remember, always keep your policy documents safe. We’d recommend that you let your intended beneficiaries know that you’ve bought this policy. Just in case a claim needs to be made.
